Upcoming Fundraising

2010-07-23

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!  We are fast approaching on a busy season.  With camp just around the corner, the details will be coming together for our upcoming fundraising that will lead us up to the tournament in Florida, January 13th-17th.  The MLK Tournament through the Orlando Junior Knights information has been posted on their website (www.jrknights.org).  We are planning three fundraisers to help defray the cost of the tournament for families.  You can choose to do as little or as much fundraising as you would like.  100% of the proceeds from what you raise will go into an account that will be credited to the player, not by team.

Our first fundraiser will be September 18 with a rain date on the 19th.  This will be a Roller-thon at Bradley Palmer Park with a BBQ to follow.  Check in is between 9:30 & 10:00 and the skating will begin at 10:30.  There is a route laid out in the park that the kids will skate. We have set this event up that the kids will ask for sponsorship contributions in whatever increment the donator would like to contribute.  We will be handing out sponsorship forms at camp which will give everyone 4 weeks to get pledges. All sponsorship money will be turned in on the day of the Roller-Thon. For the BBQ to follow we will be asking each team to bring something, the team mangers will coordinate this when we get closer

Our second fundraiser will be at the end of October into November.  It will be pies for Thanksgiving.  The order forms will be due at the end of October so that pies will be delivered on time for Thanksgiving.

Our final fundraising will be a fudge sale in December.

We have also had people show an interest in canning.  Anyone that wants to can should contact me, and I will set you up with that. In addition, if anyone has other ideas please feel free to call me to discuss.

Again, these fundraising events are optional.  It is being implemented to help those families that want to take advantage of defraying their cost of traveling to Florida.

I am currently in contact with a few airlines, trying to get a group rate.  As soon as I have more information about this I will extend it to you.  We are trying to make it as feasible as possible, since we expect to have full teams travel to Florida.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks
